From Research to Sustainable Prosperity
At Saryan Vigyan Foundation, we combine data-driven research, community engagement,
and scientific collaboration to conserve the unique biodiversity of the Indian Himalayan Region.
Saryan Vigyan Foundation is a non-profit working towards conserving biodiversity in the Indian Himalayan Region using science, research, and advanced scientific tools in collaboration with scientists and research institutions across India. With a focus on the Western Himalayan region, our multidisciplinary and growing team of scientists—including biologists, physicists, doctors, and engineers—is dedicated to conserving the region’s rich biodiversity. Our current efforts include scientific documentation of floral biodiversity and ecosystems, alongside development of propagation protocols for key Himalayan species, all aimed at driving ecological restoration. We also advocate for economic and social rights of local communities, offering informed policy recommendations that focus on protecting and preserving the Himalayan ecosystem.

Why it matters
The Indian Himalayan region is a plant diversity ‘darkspot’ and remains a global priority for species documentation and conservation. Harsh climatic conditions, coupled with unsustainable developmental and agricultural practices, are driving countless Himalayan species to extinction every year—many disappearing before they are even discovered or scientifically documented. This biodiversity crisis, exacerbated by climate change, global warming, pollution, and the region’s sensitive ecology—prone to seismic activity and landslides—calls for urgent, data-driven actions that engages all stakeholders.
